LP Warrior Kids – Plus Tard C’est Déjà Trop Tard
label: Randale Records – RAN168
format: vinyl, LP, album
Warrior Kids formed in 1983 and are one of the, if not the longest running French punk/Oi! bands. Although the band had line-up changes due various reasons these guys are, as you can say, living legends that are still able to write and record incredible songs. Since 2007 they ride under the Randale Records banner and so far have produced six releases for the Germans, a split EP, two EP’s, a live album and two studio albums with “Plus Tard C’est Déjà Trop Tard” being its seventh, and third, full-length for Randale Records.
Earlier this year I already reviewed the ‘teaser’ EP of this album “Rankids” and while listening to “Plus Tard…” I must conclude that this song is the absolute hit-song of this record. With that I am not trying to say that the remaining 12 songs on the band’s seventh studio album disappoint, but “Rankids” is so good, catchy and melodic that it really stands out from the rest of the songs on this album. Fair enough, it might be a bit disappointing that the whole album isn’t as intense as the EP but the band still managed to deliver an album of top quality French punk rock with not a single bad song on the A side (I got this on both LP and CD) such as “Eliminer Les Pauvres”, “Downshifter”, “Je Suis La Recession”, “C’es Leur Loi” and “Des Deux Rotes”. And with tracks like “Rankids” and “Les Vauriens” the B side is saved as well.
All in all still a pretty good record. The A side kills it and the B side opens up with the best track of the album. Maybe not 100% what I hoped for, but if I didn’t receive a promo CD from Randale Records I still would have bought it on vinyl. Oh wait, I did, because this legendary band still gets my support for the full 100%! (american-oi.com)
